The Faribault Lakers came back to tie the game but could not add runs in a 6-3 loss to St. Benedict Saturday,  The Saints hosted the game at The Ben in rural New Prague.

Stefan Anderson led the Lakers with 4 of their 10 hits including a double and RBI.  St. Benedict had 9 hits and played error free ball while Faribault committed 4 errors in the game.

Faribault had 4 pitchers take the mound with Mason Miller going the first 2 innings.  He gave up 2 hits but no runs while striking out 2 and walking no batters.

Benjamin Richards came in next allowing 3 runs, 2 earned on 3 hits with 3 walks and 1 strikeout.  Anderson hurled two innings allowing 2 runs, both earned, on 2 hits, gave up two walks.  Joe Grote finished the game going the final 2 and 1/3 innings, 2 hits given up, 1 unearned run with no walks and 4 strikeouts.

Miller threw 25 pitches, 18 strikes, Richards 36 pitches, 18 strikes, Anderson 32 pitches, 15 strikes, Grote 21 pitches, 19 strikes.

Grote had a pair of hits and RBI.  Aiden Qualey smacked a pair of hits with a RBI.

Tyler Hughes was the starting pitcher for St. Benedict, going the first 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run that was earned, struck out 7 and walked 5 batters.  He threw 89 pitches, 54 strikes.

Three pitchers took the hill for the Saints and combined to give up 9 walks with 10 strikeouts.

Joe Pesta and Derek Albers each had 2 hits for St. Benedict.  Albers clubbed a double and finished with 3 RBI.  Noah Miller smacked a solo home run among the 9 hits the Saints totaled.

The Lakers go to Union Hill on Sunday, May 26, 2024 according to their schedule on the Minnesota Baseball Association website.
