Cannon Falls Baseball Sweeps Lourdes

Despite cold temperatures Saturday the Cannon Falls Bombers hosted Rochester Lourdes in two 5-inning games improving their record to 6-1 on the season.

Scores were 7-4 and 7-6.  In the 7-4-win, Cannon Falls took a 6-0 lead after three innings, saw the Eagles score 3 runs in the 4th inning and another in the 5th.

Jaden Winchell achieved the win going 4 innings with 3 runs allowed, all earned.  Winchell struck out 5, walked 2 and allowed 3 hits.  Jack Meyers threw an inning of relief to earn the save with 2 strikeouts, 2 hits, 1 run allowed.

Jon Banks, Jack Meyers, Aaron Melhouse each had 2 hits for Cannon Falls.  Nick Barrett had 2 RBI for the Bombers.  They had 9 hits, 1 error while the Eagles had 5 errors, 5 hits and left 5 runners on base.

In the 7-6 victory, Ari Wells clobbered 3 hits including 2 doubles for 2 RBI, Aidan Jahns had 2 hits, 2 RBI and Cannon Falls had 4 stolen bases.

Nick Bowron hit a solo home run for the Eagles.

TJ Grimes earned the win on the hill going 3 1/3 innings with 5 hits allowed, 5 runs, 2 earned, 4 walks, 7 strikeouts.

Ari Wells got the save after pitching 1 2/3 innings with 1 hit, 1 run, 3 walks, 1 strikeout.

Rochester Lourdes had a 5-3 lead going into the third inning when the Bombers blasted for 4 runs.

The Eagles left 9 runners on base while Cannon Falls left 4.

The Bombers had 8 hits, Lourdes 6 hits in the game.

Each team finished with 1 error.

Rochester Lourdes has a 0-4 record and hosts Byron Monday, April 24, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

Cannon Falls is at Kasson-Mantorville for a 5:00 p.m. game Monday also.
