The Veseli Warriors defeated the Prior Lake Mudcats 2-1 Tuesday to win their best of three series with the higher seeded team and advance to the Region 3C Tournament.

With the Veseli is the #8 seed which means they go to St. Patrick Friday night at 8:00 p.m. to open Region competition.  Prior Lake ended their season.

The outcome also means Webster will be the #7 seed and travel to Montgomery Friday night at 8:00 p.m.

#3 seed Union Hill hosts #6 New  Prague Friday night.

#5 seed Faribault hits the road to play #4 St. Benedict Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the other first round game.

Eight teams from Region 3C advance to the Minnesota Baseball Association State Amateur Class C Baseball Tournament hosted by Faribault, Dundas and Miesville beginning the weekend of August 19, 2022.

Veseli had 3 hits in their win while Prior Lake tallied 5 hits in the game.

The Warriors scored all the runs they would need in the first inning.  Eddie Sirek was hit by a pitch to start the game, stole second base, advanced to third base on a ground out and following a walk scored on a Andrew Picha RBI single.

Simon scored what would be the winning run in the game on a error.

Prior Lake scored their lone run in the third inning.  The Mudcats did have the tying run at third and winning run at second when the game ended.

Jake Schmidt started the game pitching for the Mudcats and Lance Behrens threw the last two innings.

Blake Woodson went the first 7 innings for Veseli with 4 hits allowed, 6 walks and 6 strikeouts.  Jackson Jirik pitched the final two innings to earn a save with 1 walk, 4 strikeouts, 1 hit.

Nathan Simon had two of the Warriors three hits in the game.
