MSHSL State Baseball Tournament Seeds
Zumbrota-Mazeppa was voted #5 seed in Class 2A, Northfield was not seeded among top five Class 3A teams participating in MSHSL State Baseball Tournaments.
Section 1A representative Lyle-Pacelli is #3 in Class 1A and Farmington received #2 seed in Class 4A.
Tournaments begin Thursday, June 13, 2024 at various sites across the state.
The Z-M Cougars (17-1) will battle with #4 seed Foley Falcons (21-4) at 5:30 p.m. at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Top seed is defending State Champion Esko Eskomos (24-3) making their third trip to state. They drew Montevideo Hawks (20-5) for their opening game at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024. Montevideo is making their 5th visit to state, first since 1996.
#2 seed Rockford Rockets (23-5) like Z-M is in their first-ever state baseball tournament. They blast off against the Blake Bears (14-10) making their second journey to state, The last participation came in 2014.
#3 seed Perham Yellowjackets (22-2) were runner-up a year ago and are enjoying their 11th trip to state. They open with Le Sueur-Henderson Giants (19-5) making their second trip and first since 1979 as Le Sueur. No record of a Henderson team according to MSHSL listings.
Class 3A Northfield Raiders (15-9) are the random draw opponent for #3 seed Mahtomedi Zephyrs (20-4) at Chaska Athletic Park, 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Zephyrs placed second a year ago losing to New Prague in Championship game. This is their 9th trip (all since 2014) with titles in 2018 and 2021.
The Raiders are making their 6th journey with no titles. Their latest happening in 2016.
Top seed is Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights (20-3) who drew St. Thomas Academy Cadets (12-12) for their first opponent 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024. The Cadets are making their 4th straight appearance at state and won the title in 2019.
B-S-M is making their third straight visit to state with a title earned in 2022. They were runner-up to the Cadets in 2019.
#2 seed Mankato East Cougars (20-5) tangles with Grand Rapids Thunderhawks (16-8) at 10:00 a.m. The Cougars are making their third state baseball appearance going in 2000 as Mankato East and 2010 as Mankato East/Immanuel Lutheran.
Mankato enjoyed 9 trips from 1948 through 1967. Thunderhawks are appearing in their 22nd baseball state competition with two championship, two runner-up finishes. This is their 4th consecutive trip with a second place finish in 2021.
#4 seed Totino-Grace Eagles (16-8) battle #5 Little Falls Flyers (18-6) at 5:30 p.m, Thursday, June 13, 2024. The Eagles are making their third appearance at state in baseball while the Flyers have been their 17 times with titles in 1957, 1979, and 2019 runner-up.
Class 1A games are at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud starting Thursday, July 13, 2024.
Top seed Cherry Tigers (20-3) open with Lac qui Parle Valley Eagles (17-6) at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Tigers were Champions as Cherry/Iron in 1997 and returned in 2008. The Eagles were runner-up in 2012.
#2 seed Parkers Prairie Panthers (23-1) drew Heritage Christian Academy Hawks (17-4) for their 10:30 a.m. game on Thursday, June 13, 2024. The Panthers 4th visit to state with a title in 2017 after being runner-up in 2016, last trip 2018.
Heritage Christian is in Minneapolis, in their only previous trip were champions in 2018.
#3 seed Lyle-Pacelli Athletics (19-3) drew Sacred Heart Eagles (19-3) for their first opponent at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024. The Athletics finished second last year and Austin Pacelli made a state baseball visit in 1983. Sacred Heart is making their 6th trip to state baseball. Last visit was 2022.
#4 seed Springfield Tigers (22-2) will tussle with #5 New York Mills Eagles (19-5) at 6:00 p.m. The Tigers are making their 11th trip to state in baseball with second place finishes in 1948 and 2015 and a title in 2016. Their last trip came in 2021.
The Eagles are also veterans of state baseball with their 10th journey coming this year. they have been runner-up in 2004, 2014, 2019 and 2021 with their last trip in 2022.
Class 4A contests are played at CHS Field in St. Paul home of the Saints.
#1 seed, Wayzata Trojans (24-0) are the only remaining undefeated team and open with St. Cloud Crush (19-5) at 4:30 p.m.
The Trojans are making their sixth journey to state in baseball with a title in 2016. Their last trip came in 2018.
St. Cloud has never been to state as the Crush. Apollo, Cathedral and Tech from St. Cloud have all participated. The Crush are combined students from Apollo and Tech High Schools.
#2 seed Farmington Tigers (24-3) defeated defending Class 3A State Champions New Prague twice to win Section 1AAAA. They drew Forest Lake Rangers (13-11) for their first opponent at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024.
The Tigers were Champions in 2021 and runner-up in 2022. This is their 4th appearance at state in baseball. The Rangers are paying their 11th visit to state with runner-up finishes in 1993 and 2017.
#3 seed East Ridge Raptors (18-6) open with Eastview Lightning (14-13) at 1:00 p,m, on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
The Raptors are defending Class 4A Champions and also earned the title in 2019. The Lightning were 3A Champions in 2012 and are making their third trip, first since 2018,
#4 seed Minnetonka Skippers (17-7) face #5 Seed Mounds View Mustangs (18-8) in their first contest at 7:30 p.m.
Skippers are in their 11th state baseball experience with runner-up trophies in 1979 and 2018. They were at state last year.
The Mustangs are also state veterans making their 11th trip with titles in 2013 and 2014. They were in last year's tournament also.
