Journey to Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament

Region and Section Tournaments opened this weekend to determine what baseball teams punch their tickets to Jordan, Belle Plaine, Green Isle and Shakopee for state competition in a couple weeks.

Section 1B action Friday night had the following results:

• Rochester 11  Hampton  4
• Miesville  12  Northfield  4
• Elko  5  St. Patrick  1   (Winning pitcher was Faribault's own Jake Petricka with 8 innings pitched, 12 strikeouts)
• Dundas 9  New Market  5

Games Sunday, August 4, 2024 are all scheduled for 2:00 p.m. first pitches:

• Rochester at Hampton
• Miesville at Northfield
• Elko vs St. Patrick at Dundas
• Dundas at New Market

These are best of 3 games series with the winners advancing to State Class B Tournament.  If a third game is necessary it will be Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 8:00 p.m.

The remaining teams participate in a Redemption Round to determine the final state entrant from Section 1B.  Games scheduled for Friday, August 9, 2024 and Saturday, August 10, 2024.

Region 5C Tournament in Hastings this weekend saw Saturday with a couple of yawners and a couple of thrillers.

• Wanamingo  16  Austin Greyhounds  0  (7 innings)  Winning pitcher Sam Roosen
• Red Wing  11  Cannon Falls  1  (7 innings)
• Stewartville-Racine  4  Plainview  3  (10 innings)
• Hastings 2  Pine Island 2  (7 innings, game resumes Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. with winner playing Wanamingo and loser Austin following it's conclusion.)

Other Sunday, August 4, 2024 games in Hastings are:

• Cannon Falls vs. Plainview  10:00 a.m.
• Red Wing vs. Stewartville-Racine  1:00 p.m.

Finals are next weekend in Owatonna with two teams advancing to state.

Region 6C Tournament games held in Gaylord this weekend.  They had a suspended game also Saturday which changed the Sunday schedule a bit.  Eagle Lake and LeSueur were in bottom of 7th inning when storm came with Expos ahead 5-3 over the Braves.  Game resumes at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2024

Sunday, August 4, 2024 schedule is:

• 10:45 a.m.  resume Eagle Lake vs, LeSueur
• Noon  Jordan vs. St. Peter
• 2:30 p.m.  Waterville vs Eagle Lake/LeSueur winner
• 5:00 p.m.  Minnesota Lake vs Blue Earth
• 7:30 p.m.  St. Clair vs LeSueur/Eagle Lake Loser

Finals are next weekend in Arlington with 4 teams going to state.

Region 3C begins Sunday, August 4, 2024 at high seeds.  It is Modified double-elimination with three teams advancing to state.

• 1:00 p.m.  #8 seed Faribault at #1 New Prague
• 4:00 p.m.  #4 Webster hosts #5 Montgomery
• 1:00 p.m.  #6 Lonsdale at #3 Prior Lake
• 4:00 p.m.  #7 St. Benedict at #2  Union Hill

Winners and losers play Tuesday with Tuesday winners bracket victor and loser punching tickets to state as #1 and #2 seed.  Loser's bracket winner is #3 seed from Region 3C.
