The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers volleyball team advanced to the 2A South championship Thursday as they defeated Mankato Loyola in four sets 25-13, 25-11, 21-25, 25-12.

WEM controlled most of the match. Something happened in set three, where the enthusiasm, concentration, communication and coordination all seemed to disappear at times. It was like all of a sudden a different team was on the floor. But in the fourth set they snapped back and took control.

In the 2A North semifinals, Springfield upset No. 2 St. Clair in four sets.

The Buccaneers will face Springfield at 7:30PM Thursday. In the 6PM match-up it will be Mayer Lutheran vs. CMC. The winners will play to go to the state volleyball tournament at 6PM Saturday at Gustavus in St. Peter.

Thursday night's coverage to start about 7:15 on KQCL Power96 and power96radio.com.
