Tornado Cleanup Information on KDHL
Faribault Fire Chief and City Emergency Management Director Dusty Dienst joins us on AM Minnesota at 9:30 a.m. to give us an update on how cleanup from Thursday night's tornadoes is going. Dienst says the National Weather Service had their assessment team stop by and they are still in the process of determining what caused all the damage seen in various places around Faribault.
It is not official yet but speculation at this point seems to be that Faribault was hit by four tornadoes and Rice County had six tornadoes. Dienst was unsure when the National Weather Service would make their official assessment public. Technically the City of Faribault Compost site is for city residents only but Dienst says the city has taken a lot of debris, mostly downed trees and branches from the lakes areas west of Faribault.
During the Faribault City Council meeting last Friday to declare a state of emergency City Administrator Tim Murray noted the declaration allows them to get repairs made to city infrastructure without going through the longer bidding process.
City officials were going to see how quickly they could get a company to assist in getting the airport main terminal building repaired or replaced.
