Rice County Salvation Army Red Kettle Kick-Off
The Rice County unit of the Salvation Army has a concert, silent auction and pie social Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault.
The event starts the Red Kettle fundraiser goal of $100,000 this year. It was the same goal a season ago, but fell just short with $92,000 raised.
Those funds were used by the middle of September this year for such things as emergency aid with food, clothing, housing, travel expenses for those in need.
Randy Twiehoff, Faribault Kettle Coordinator and Wayne Bakke, Lonsdale Kettle Coordinator told KDHL AM Minnesota listeners on Thursday, November 6, 2024 a concert will feature the Lake Landers Barbershop Chorus of Faribault and Pastor Joe Jorgenson and his Folk and Rock 'n' Roll Band.
There will be a pie social during an intermission where a free will offering will be accepted. A variety of pies will be available to enjoy.
The silent auction features many items. There will be a live auction of pies made by the Trinity Lutheran Church of Faribault ladies.
The event at Trinity Lutheran Church, 530 4th Street NW Faribault will go from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Rice County Salvation Army not only provides emergency assistance with rent, utility, car repair, but has partnered with such programs as Shop with a Cop, Back to School Backpacks and Shoes. Hygiene and support for the Cathedral Cafe and other service providers such as the Community Action Council of Northfield and Faribault.
Twiehoff and Bakke emphasized the need for bell ringers during the upcoming holiday season with bell ringing starting on Friday, November 15, 2024 at grocery stores in Faribault, Northfield and Lonsdale.
