Rice County Board Selects Underdahl New Chairperson

Steve Underdahl was selected to be the Chairperson of the Rice County Board of Commissioners during their first meeting today of the new year.

Galen Malecha was chosen as Vice-Chair during the organizational meeting which lasted approximately 10 minutes in the Commissioner's Room of the Government Services Building in Faribault.

The selections were made after a formal swearing in ceremony was conducted in the same room with Judge Christine M. Long administering the oath of office.

Newly elected County Board member Gerald Hoisington was sworn in.

Sheriff Jesse Thomas also was sworn in.

Others sworn in were:

Brian Mortenson, County Attorney
Steve Underdahl, County Commissioner District 4
Roger Bongers, District 3 Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor
Richard Peterson, District 5 Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor

I asked Underdahl if he had any goals as the new Chair.
