The Owatonna High School hockey teams beat Rochester John Marshall by a combined 17-2 score on Thursday. The Huskies out shot the Rockets by a total of 91-29 between the girls and boys games. It was also the third straight win for each team.

The OHS girls had seven different goal scorers as they built a 7-0 lead after two periods. In the third period, with running time, Abby Vetsch, Sydney Hunst, Anna Herzog, and Olivia Herzog each added their second goal of the game. Olivia Herzog also had a pair of assists.

Molly Achterkirch, Lauren Borgerding, and Ezra Oien also scored for Owatonna (7-2, 7-0 Big Nine). Oien and Achterkirch each had a pair of assists as well. Aza Wolfe earned the win in goal, stopping the first 16 shots she faced. The Rockets scored on a power play in the closing seconds.

Owatonna remains tied atop the Big Nine standings after Thursday's games. The Huskies will host Northfield in a battle of conference unbeaten clubs on Tuesday, December 17. It is Teacher Night with the Owatonna players honoring educators at Four Seasons Centre.

On Dudley Otto Rink Thursday night, the OHS boys jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one period while out shooting JM 21-1 in the first 17 minutes. Tanner Stendel and Casey Johnson scored goals within a minute of each other midway through the first. Zach Kubicek and Dom Valento added to the lead with goals at the end of the frame according to the Hockey Hub website.

Wyatt Oldenfendt scored in the second for a 5-0 lead heading into second intermission. John Marshall got on the board late in the third. Valento notched his second goal of the night shortly afterward to wrap up the scoring in a 6-1 Huskies win. Valento also had an assist. Taylor Bogen had three assists for OHS.

Zach Wiese made eleven saves for the win. Owatonna (3-1, 2-0 Big Nine) is one of four teams in the Big Nine without a conference loss through the first couple of weeks of the season. OHS goes to Northfield (4-3, 4-0) Tuesday, December 17 with radio coverage on Kat Kountry 105 FM and the Kat Kountry app.

Owatonna plays Chanhassen Saturday, December 14 at the Victoria Ice Arena on AM 1390 KRFO. Pregame begins at 2:45 pm for the 3:00 pm game. The next eight games for the Huskies are on the road, including a holiday trip to Duluth where they are the defending champs of the Heritage Tournament.
