Faribault Girls Hockey Back on Winning Track
The Faribault Falcons girls hockey team got back to their winning ways tonight with a 8-2 win over the Mankato East Cougars at All Seasons Arena in Mankato. Senior Olivia Williamson had another hat trick. She finished with a 5 point night. Junior Ashley Rost was between the pipes and stopped 14 of 16 shots.
Junior Rylie Starkson had two goals, eighth graders Isabelle Stephes and Grace McCoshen had goals along with senior Haley Lang. Lang added 3 assists in the game. Senior Abigail Goodwin tallied three assists. Other assists went to junior Anna Selly, Stephes, McCoshen and junior Alli Velander.
Faribault outshot Mankato East 40-16 following their overtime loss Tuesday in Owatonna. Each team had just one penalty in the game and there were no power play goals.
1:20 into the game Stephes got the first goal for the Falcons, assisted by Olivia Williamson and Lang. That was the score quite awhile before Haley Lang scored at 14:29 assisted by Olivian Williamson and McCoshen.
Faribault would score two more goals in the final minute to go up 4-0 after one period. 16:28 Williamson got her first goal assisted by Lang. Starkson scored, assisted by Goodwin with 9 seconds to go in the period. Shots were 16-4 in favor of the Falcons.
3:05 into the second period McCoshen scored, assists to Goodwin and Selly before Mankato East got on the board with a shorthanded goal at 15:01. 20 seconds later Olivia Williamson scored unassisted making it 6-1 going into the final period. Shots in the second period on goal were 13-8
:46 into the third period the Cougars got their second goal. Faribault answered again with a Rylie Starkson score at 2:01 assisted by Velander and Goodwin. 14:35 Olivia Williamson completed her hat trick assisted by Lang and Stephes.
