Owatonna FFA member Brianna Levisay was named the Minnesota FFA State Proficiency winner in the small animal category at the 91st State FFA Convention. Normally the State FFA Convention is held at the University of Minnesota late in April. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic at was postponed until early in June. Then in early May the decision was made to have a virtual State FFA Convention last week. Talking to a number of FFA members and advisors it was not the same as seeing all those blue FFA jackets on campus.

However, they were all pleased that there was some type of State FFA Convention this year! Brianna was also happy there was a State FFA Convention where she was recognized as a Proficiency winner in the small animal category! Agriscience Teacher Jamie Gray had Brianna as a student when she was a freshman. She tried to convince Brianna to join the Owatonna FFA. Brianna was not so sure she wanted to join the FFA. Well, after a year of convincing by a teacher that did not give up Brianna joined as a sophomore.

As the saying goes the rest was history! Brianna developed her passion for small animals working at a dog kennel, owning her own kennel and being on the Owatonna FFA Small Animal Career Development event or judging team.
