The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals opened defense of their Section 1A title with a 15-0 four inning win Monday over Lyle-Pacelli at North Alexander Park in Faribault.

Morgan Wilson, junior, allowed no hits, no walks, 8 strikeouts while throwing 52 pitches, 42 strikes.  She did hit two batters and the Cardinals also had an error in the game.

Wilson had 3 hits, 3 RBI, a double and triple.  Classmate Anna Tobin also had 3 hits including a double, triple with 3 RBI.  Anna Cohen, junior, 2 hits, 3 RBI, Jenna Lippert, 8th grade, clubbed 3 hits with an RBI, Caitlyn Bothun, sophomore, had 2 hits, 1 RBI, Jocelyn Simones, junior, collected 2 hits, 2 RBI, Brylie Brecker, sophomore, 2 hits, 2 RBI as Bethlehem Academy cracked 18 hits and stole 4 bases in the shortened contest.

The Cardinals are scheduled to have #7 seed Lewiston-Altura come to Faribault Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.  Those Cardinals dispatched Mabel-Canton 10-4 Monday.

In other Section 1A action #5 seed Kenyon-Wanamingo downed Fillmore Central/Lanesboro 7-1 in Wanamingo.

Josie Flom, senior, struck out 10 Falcons, walked no batters, allowed 2 hits while throwing 82 pitches, 63 strikes.

The Knight had just 2 hits due in part to 7 Fillmore Central errors.  K-W had 3 errors in the game.

The two hits were recorded by Anna Ostertag, freshman, with an RBI and Vanessa Bartel, sophomore.

Ostertag and Flom also had stolen bases.

The Knights go to #4 seed Hayfield Tuesday, May 21, 2024 for a 5:00 p.m. game.

The Hayfield Vikings had no trouble ending #13 seed Spring Grove's season winning 10-0 in 5 innings at Hayfield Monday,

Elaina Masching, junior, threw a no-hitter while walkiing 1 and striking out 8 batters.  She threw 64 pitches, 45 strikes.

Hayfield swiped 6 bases.  Kenna Selk, junior, had 2 hits including a double and RBI, Ella Bamlet, freshman, 2 hits and RBI, Jenna Christopherson, freshman, got a hit and 2 RBI, Nora Bamlet, junior, an RBI hit in the 8 hit Vikings attack.

Section 1AA Monday outcomes mean Cannon Falls will go to Randolph tomorrow to face the #1 rated undefeated Rockets.

#8 seed Bombers defeated #9 Pine Island 8-3 in Cannon Falls.

Ally Pagel, sophomore, scattered 6 hits over 7 innings with no walks and 9 strikeouts while throwing 96 pitches, 66 strikes.  Pagel also delivered 3 hits in the 10 hit Cannon Falls attack.  Mya Menge, 8th grade, clubbed a pair of home runs with 4 RBI.  Madison Burr, senior, added a 2 run homer.  The Bombers stole three bases.
