
Bethlehem Academy Achieves No-Hit Victory
Morgan Wilson, senior pitcher with Faribault Bethlehem Academy allowed just three baserunners in a 4-0 win over Waterville-Elysian-Morristown today in Faribault.
Wilson was efficient, throwing 78 pitches, 46 strikes to secure the win. She had 7 strikeouts, walked one and hit a batter
The Cardinals pitcher had a perfect game going until an error with two outs was allowed in the fourth inning.
Bethlehem Academy senior Anna Tobin started the game with a 1-0 count double but ended up stranded at third base, It was a precursor of things to come.
The Cardinals scored in the second inning when designated player Sarah Tobin collected a one out single. Jenna Lippert followed with a 2-2 count single. #9 hitter Kaylee Katra stroked an RBI single that scored Sarah Tobin.
The 1-0 score held up until the bottom of the 6th inning, but there were runners on base for the Cardinals every inning.
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown pitcher Alix Velzke did an excellent job of not allowing the traffic on the bases to affect her pitching.
BA tallied two out singles in the third inning by Liv Glumack, fourth inning by Evelina Caldera prior to back-to-back hits with one out in the fifth inning by Anna Cohen and Morgan Wilson,
Velzke appeared to get a little tired in the 6th inning when Sarah Tobin opened the inning with a 2-2 count single up the middle she got back-tp-back strikeouts looking before a 0-1 count pitch that hit Katra.
Anna Tobin walked on four pitches. Cohen hit a grounder that scored Sarah Tobin. Morgan Wilson was safe on an error allowing Anna Tobin to score. Eight batters stepped to the plate. Velzke threw 34 pitches in the inning and finished the game with 111 pitches thrown, 72 strikes.
She struck out 5, walked 1 and hit a batter while allowing 10 hits.
Velzke and catcher Robyn Schwichtenburg were our Dahle Enterprises of Morristown Buccaneers of the game.
Each team committed one error.
The Cardinals improve their record to 6-3. Bucs fall to 2-7.
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown is off until Thursday, May 8 when they host Blooming Prairie.
Bethlehem Academy entertains Blue Earth Area Monday, May 5.
