Minnesota Drive-In Opening Again After Being Closed for 5 Years
Galaxy Drive-In in St. Louis Park has been closed since 2015. Now it's reopening for the 2020 season in April!
Steve Schussler is the owner of Galaxy Drive-In (and also the Rainforest Cafe, according to Bring Me the News). He closed the drive-in at the end of the 2015 season and then never reopened it in the following year.
Bring Me the News says that Steve was waiting "to find the right team to re-open the restaurant" with. And he found that perfect team! The Star Tribune reports that Mark Saliterman, who is "chairman of VisionBank in St. Louis Park, owner of Clays restaurant in Rockford, Minn., and a commercial real estate developer," has been added to the team. Along with Mark, James Awe, Clays executive chef, has been added to the team.
Of course, with a new team comes changes, like changes to the menu. Schussler Creative's website addresses this change:
Although known for its award winning burgers some years ago, the ingredients and methods of cooking at the drive in have changed over the years. Galaxy Drive In is bringing back the once award winning burgers and their secret cooking methods, fries, onion rings and even new additions, including a canine cuisine menu!
It should be a fun and exciting grand reopening for this classic drive-in that's been around since 1951!
