Mankato East Clubs Northfield in Dome Softball

The Mankato East Cougars and Northfield Raiders played their fastpitch softball game at the Dundas Dome Monday. The Cougars came out on top 11-5.

Raiders pitcher, junior Courtney Graff went 4 for 4 at the plate with two home runs, 5 RBI. She had home runs in back to back plate appearances in the third and fifth innings.

The rest of the Northfield team had 5 hits while the Cougars collected 13 hits in the game.

The Raiders finished with 4 errors, Mankato East had 1 error in the Big Nine Conference game.

In the pitching circle Graff went the distance throwing 143 pitches with 87 strikes. She allowed 11 runs, 7 earned with 4 walks and 8 strikeouts.

Mankato East countered with senior Madison Mangulis. She threw 106 pitches, 63 strikes with 8 strikeouts, 3 walks, 6 hits allowed, all five runs earned.

Six Cougars had multiple hit games led by sophmore Hailey Petzel and freshman Kylinn Stangl with 2 hits, 3 RBI each.

Mankato East collected 5 stolen bases in 6 attempts while Northfield was not successful in their only attempt of the game.

Cougars junior Sydney Jacobs had 2 stolen bases.

Northfied is 5-2 , 4-2 in Big Nine play. Mankato East is 3-3, 3-1 in league contests.

The Raiders are scheduled to host Austin Tuesday, April 26 while the Cougars are at Rochester John Marshall. Both games are slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
