It is almost here, the 2021 Rice County Fair. The dates for this year's Rice County Fair is July 21, 2021 through July 25, 2021. Rice County Fair Manager has been on KDHL's AM Minnesota every Tuesday called Rice County Fair Talk. It is a great opportunity for John to update listeners about the fair but also let them know what it takes to organize a county fair. There are many business, individuals, and volunteers to put on a great fair like the Rice County Fair.

Typically John brings a guest along or has one lined up on the phone. Two weeks ago it was Michael Featherston whose family owns the carnival GoldStar Amusements. Michael is the fifth generation in the family business which will again this year be the carnival at the Rice County Fair. How much money does it take to be in the carnival business? One of the new rides at the Rice County Fair cost almost $600,000.

Today John brought another guest, Troy Temple. Most people know Troy behind a camera for FC TV. However, Troy's family has long been in the concession business too, and they will be at the Rice County Fair. It was quite interesting to hear Troy talk about all the regulations and inspections that are needed is you are in the food business. His concession stand is inspected by the Minnesota Department of Health, Minnesota Department of Agriculture and also he needs to pass an electrical inspection.

There is a lot that goes on "behind the scenes" to put on a county fair! Click on the link and listen to John and Troy on today's AM Minnesota Program.
