Kelly Nygaard, Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce Tourism Director told KDHL AM Minnesota listeners today plans are in the works to hold fun events again this summer.

Car Cruises will be back beginning May 21, 2021.  The actual moving cruises were so popular last year there will be at least one of those with hopes to go back to parking classic vehicles downtown with food and beverages available.

Heritage Days is the third week of June.  The Blue Collar Festival Week is expanding to five days in August, 11th through the 15th.

Nygaard believes people are eager to get back to some fun events after basically being cooped up for a year with the COVID-19 pandemic.  She assured us whatever safety protocols are required will be followed.

The 2021 Business Awards Luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Faribault Golf and Country Club.

Nygaard remarked, "Our businesses have been through the ringer over the last year and a half.  It has been challenging.  They have had to be resourceful, dogged and reinvent themselves three times over just to survive.  Now we get to celebrate businesses."

Nygaard added, "My colleague Casie always says it's her favorite event  of the year because you get to hear about people's stories.  You get to hear about those triumphs and it really is inspiring.  There are several different categories that we honor.  We honor the Business of the Year.  We announce three finalists for the award but the winner is unveiled that day."

"We have a Legacy Award, which is for a longstanding business in the community.  There's an Excellence in Education Award, Customer Service Award and Chamber Volunteer of the Year," Nygaard concluded.

Registration is required for the event which will be held from Noon to 1:30 p.m.  Cost is $25 per person and includes lunch.

If you would like to go it's encouraged to get your tickets soon because due to COVID safety protocols there is limited seating for the event.

Nygaard indicated the Chamber has already received approximately 100 nominations for the various awards.
