The Faribault Falcons fastpitch softball team got another strong pitching performance from Rylee Sietsema in a 2-0 win over Austin on the road Thursday.

The righty senior was efficient throwing 89 pitches, 60 for strikes, allowed 5 hits with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Emma Minnick, senior, clubbed an RBI double in the 4th inning and Amanda Cullen, sophomore, had the other RBI with a sacrifice fly in the 5th inning.

The Falcons entered the game batting .318 as a team with six players hitting over .300 on the season.

Grace Brazil, junior, and Reagan Drengenberg, senior, each swiped a base in the hard fought game at Austin's Todd Park.

Neither team had a error in the windy conditions.

Faribault has won 3 of their last 5 games and goes to Visitation Academy in Mendota Heights Saturday for three scheduled games.  They will tangle with the host Blazers at 9:30 a.m.

The tournament is being played at Victoria Ballfields in Roseville, Mn.  Games are 9:30 a.m, 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with other participants including Pine Island, Hawley, Aitken, Litchfield, South St. Paul and Concordia Academy of St. Paul.

The Bethlehem Academy Cardinals fell in Blooming Prairie Thursday 6-2.

The Awesome Blossoms bats were humming, achieving 12 hits off Morgan Wilson, junior, pitcher who struck out 6 and walked 1 while throwing 98 pitches, 67 strikes,

Bethlehem Academy jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.  Blooming Prairie scored a run in the third, 3 runs in the 4th and 2 more in the 6th inning.

The Cardinals had seven different batters with hits.  Caitlin Bothun, sophomore, knocked in both runs.

Blooming Prairie pitcher, Macy Lembke, senior, scattered 7 hits, struck out 4 batters and walked 4 while throwing 100 pitches, 64 for strikes.

Layla Lembke, senior, ha 2 hits including a double and Lily Schammel, senior added 2 hits.  Anna Haberman, senior, joined the hit parade with a pair of singles and Ella Smith, junior, clubbed a 2 RBI triple for the Awesome Blossoms.

Blooming Prairie (12-3) goes to Southland Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Bethlehem Academy (9-5) is scheduled to host Hayfield (8-6) at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
