Faribault Fire Chief Dusty Dienst is our guest on today's KDHL AM Minnesota program at 9:30 a.m.  Dienst wants to hammer home the importance of closing your interior doors when you are not there.

Dienst also says bedroom doors should be shut when sleeping at night because if a fire breaks out it could save lives.  I pointed out it depends on the kind of doors.

When I was a kid my Dad took all the interior doors off in the home I grew up in except the bathroom door.  He did put a accordion-fold door on three of the bedrooms.  My brother had a wood half door to his room.  I'm guessing that would not have been much protection if a fire broke out.

We will also touch on school bus safety because school will start before our next visit with the Faribault Fire Chief.

Traditionally we have had law enforcement officials join us before the start of school to discuss stop arm violations and I'm sure we will do that again this year.

You can't reinforce those messages too much.

Remember if you can't tune in between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. the audio from the program is typically on this page before the end of the day for you to listen to at a time convenient for you.
