The Faribault Diversity Coalition is hosting a MLK Day breakfast this morning and a member of their board will leave a little early to join us on AM Minnesota at 9:30 a.m.

Sam Ouk is the Treasurer for the Faribault Diversity Coalition (FDC) which was started in 1995 to help greet new residents, celebrate diversity, and they say on their website most importantly. "promote an inclusive community where all is welcomed and respected."

The board is comprised of volunteers.

When Ouk isn't working on the board he is Faribault High School English Learners Coordinator.

We have visited with Ouk before on our show and his story is an inspirational one.

He was born in a Cambodian Refugee Camp in Thailand in 1980 and immigrated to Rochester, Mn. in 1982.

He had to learn English while his family was still speaking their native language.

There are a number of students in the Faribault Public School District enrolled in the English Learners program.

We also have received word that some members of the Northfield Human Rights Commission are coming to Faribault this week to discuss the possibility of starting a commission in Faribault
