E.coli Outbreak Sickens Nearly 200 in 10 States, Including Minnesota
There's currently an E.coli outbreak that's being linked to ground beef. The first reported illness in this outbreak was on March 1st.
The most recent update says that 196 people in 10 different states have been sickened by this outbreak. Of those 196 people, 28 have been hospitalized. There have been no deaths reported. Two of the people that have been hospitalized reportedly have a type of kidney failure, according to KARE 11.
It's believed that ground beef is behind this outbreak because, as KARE 11 reports, "of 147 victims interviewed about what they had recently eaten, 78% reported eating ground beef, the CDC said."
These are the 10 states that have been affected by this outbreak: Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The following companies have recalled ground beef products: Grant Park Packing in Franklin Park, IL, and K2D Foods (doing business as Colorado Premium Foods) in Carrollton, GA.
