Dundas, St. Patrick Advance, Vesli Loses at State
A pair of drafted pitchers led the Chisago Lakes Bulldogs to a 4-3 win over the Vesli Warriors in opening round Class C State Amateur Baseball today,
Veseli was the visiting team in the game played in Dassel.
Damon Rademacher, draftee from Princeton went the first 8 innings on the mound for Chisago Lakes, striking out 11, walking 3, hit 2 batters. He allowed 6 hits.
Phil Bray from Isanti got 2 strikeouts in the final inning for the save.
I have always felt drafted pitchers should only be used on the final weekend of the tournament. There are no drafted players in Class B.
I understand the reason to have the extra arms in Class C but they should not be necessary (unless there are injuries) until the final weekend when multiple games might be played.
Just my opinion which I realize is not really worth anything.
Nathan Picka started for Veseli, going the first 7 innings with no strikeouts, 2 walks, 10 hits including 3 doubles. All 4 runs were earned even though the Warriors had 3 errors in the game.
