Northfield Chamber of Commerce President Lisa Peterson told KDHL AM Minnesota program listeners Wednesday a decision has not been made yet concerning the Defeat of Jesse James Days (DJJD) celebration.

The largest all-volunteer event in Minnesota draws thousands upon thousands of people to the Northfield community.  Peterson says the DJJD Committee met Tuesday night and has decided not to determine whether the event will be held as scheduled September 9-13, 2020.

"They are communicating with state and local leaders," Peterson says, "Any decisions they make are not made lightly let me just say that.  So much time and effort has been put in by the committee Chair Galen Malecha just trying to get as much information as he possible can in order to bring that back to committee."

"He had three or four different scenarios he presented that he could see on the horizon but he won't be making that decision alone.  He will continue to talk to state and local officials.  So as soon as we know anything about the celebration moving forward we will gladly promote that anyway we can."

"It's just so unknown right now.  Everything is, we just don't know how any of our events are going to look."

Within the last few weeks a number of area celebrations cancelled.  Dam Days in Morristown, Bullhead Days in Waterville, Heritage Days in Faribault, Lake City's Water Ski Days, Straight River Days in Medford, Covered Bridge Festival in Zumbrota, Pine Island Cheese Festival.

The Zumnbrota community celebration hopes to reschedule in the fall but no firm dates have been announced.

Goodhue's Volksfest hosted by the Goodhue Jaycees is still on the City's website scheduled for June 12-14 with forms available for Miss Goodhue and Grand Marshal for the parade.  Hairball is scheduled to perform Friday, June 12, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. with Rhino opening for them.  Randy Houser is featured Saturday, June 13, 2020 with opening by JT & The Gunslingers beginning 6:30 p.m.

West Concord Survival Days is tentatively scheduled for July 25-28 according to their website.
