The Cannon Valley Fair in Cannon Falls is a rare treat these days.  A community fair.  There is no other listing of a community fair on the Minnesota Federation of County Fairs website.

After no fairs or community festivals a year ago the crowds have been very good at the Dam Days celebration in Morristown, Heritage Days in Faribault and now the Cannon Valley Fair in Cannon Falls.

During a special broadcast from the fairgrounds in Cannon Falls we learned from fair organizers the Truck and Tractor Pull in the Grandstand Thursday was so large it didn't get over until 2:30 Friday morning.

Cannon Valley Fair President Greg Kurtz said only one person phoned police about the early morning activity.

Some of the food stands reported running out of food on the opening day not anticipating the crowds of people.

Before I left the fairgrounds there were a lot of people already and the day wasn't officially supposed to get started until 11:00 a.m.

I left shortly after that becasue I wanted to get a Brat from the KC's Stand.  Wild Rice are my favorite but I tried the Smoked Brat and it was delicious with some BBQ sauce on it.

The 4th generation of family members involved with Schroeder Concessions of Faribault stopped by the 4-H Building to join our broadcast.  Hunter is studying to be an engineer.

Fair Board member Nancy Hovel always does a great job lining up guests for the show and this year's broadcast was no exception.  I've included the podcast of the show below so you can check it out.

I took several pictures I hope you enjoy viewing.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.

A lot of people say seeing animals is their favorite thing at the fair.  Check this out.

LOOK: Stunning animal photos from around the world

From grazing Tibetan antelope to migrating monarch butterflies, these 50 photos of wildlife around the world capture the staggering grace of the animal kingdom. The forthcoming gallery runs sequentially from air to land to water, and focuses on birds, land mammals, aquatic life, and insects as they work in pairs or groups, or sometimes all on their own.
