
Bethlehem Academy Wins Softball Season Opener
The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals defeated the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights 7-1 tonight at North Alexander Park in Faribault. Senor pitcher Morgan Wilson collected nine strikeouts while allowing 4 hits, mixing in some timely changeups with her fastball.
Wilson threw 91 pitches, 67 strikes while facing 27 K-W batters. Wilson gave up one walk.
The Cardinals collected 11 hits. Three of them had multiple hits led by Anna Cohen, senior, with 3 hits, 2 RBI. Anna Tobin, senior, had 2 hits, Jocelyn Simones, senior, with 2 hits.
Kenyon-Wanamingo's Claire Olson, freshman, smacked 3 of the Knights hits and scored their lone run. Vanessa Bartel, senior, tallied the other hit.
BA jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, added 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Cardinals Head Coach Scott Trump was pleased with his team's execution in the first game.
Knights Head Coach Megan Jordan says Bethlehem Academy is one of the top teams in the Gopher Conference so her young team performed well. Particularly in the field.
K-W had 2 errors, the Cardinals 3 errors in the game.
Knights pitcher Anna Ostertag, sophomore, struck out five and walked five, throwing 124 pitches, 75 strikes with 11 hits allowed over six innings.
