Bethlehem Academy has had a tradition of crowning a Homecoming King and they ask a senior girl to be their escort.  That practice started after 1994.

This year is no exception.  There are a few activities different from days gone by.

For example they do themed days throughout the week.

Homecoming King coronation is 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2022 in Van Orsow Auditorium at the conclusion of a Noon pep fest.

The Homecoming King and Court will lead a Homecoming Parade starting 1:30 p.m.  the route goes like this:

  • North on 3rd Avenue to 3rd St. NW
  • East on 3rd St. NW to Central Avenue
  • South on Central Avenue to 1st St. NW
  • West on 1st St. NW to 2nd Ave. NW
  • South on 2nd Ave. to 1st St. SW
  • West on 1st St. back to BA parking lot

The Homecoming King candidates and their escorts are:

  • Hunter Conrad, son of Ellie and Andrew Conrad escorted by Jaden Lang, daughter of Deb and Jeff Lang.
  • Zachary Donkers, son of Marcia and Mike Donkers escorted by Kaitlyn Trump, daughter of Christina and Scott Trump.
  • Kyle Ernste, son of Leah and Aljo Ernste escored by Brooke Johson, daughter of Jill Ellingson and Marshall Johnson.
  • Charles King, son of Becky and Jonathan King escorted by Reagan Kangas, daughter of Debbie Korman and Dan Kangas.
  • Jordan Simones, son of Jessica and Jonathan Simones escorted by Karlie DeGrood, daughter of Clarice and Patrick Degrood.

This is fun to look at.  A listing of past BA Homecoming Royalty.  They used to have Queens and Kings.   If anybody knows why the change was made after 1994 I would be curious to know.

Notice no royalty during WWII years.  December 7, 1941 got the United States involved in that war.  My Mom graduated from high school in Ottumwa, Iowa that year.
