Accident Claims Lonsdale Life

A two vehicle accident has claimed the life of a Lonsdale Man, and left two others injured.

The accident occurred Tuesday in Erin Township, rural Lonsdale at Independence Avenue and 117th Street West, according to the Rice County Sheriff's Department.

According to the news release, a 1994 Chevrolet Pickup was southbound on Independence Avenue. It was driven by 34 year old Kathryn Kraft of Blakely, MN. Kraft was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with critical injuries. Apparently Kraft's truck crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 2008 Chevrolet Malibu being driven by 56 year old Jerome Sevcik of Lonsdale. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger 56 year old Susanne Sevcik of Lonsdale was extricated from the vehicle and also airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Rice Coounty Sheriff's office, Lonsdale Fire/Rescue, Lonsdale Police and Northfield and North Ambulances Responded. The Rice County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol.
