Almost 4,000 blue jackets will invade the University of Minnesota-St. Paul campus Sunday through Tuesday next week for the 88th annual Minnesota State FFA Convention. Earning a trip to the State FFA Convention is a goal of many FFA members. On Monday, there will be Career Development Events or, as they were called when I was a FFA member, judging contests. Your team must place high enough at the regional contest to earn the right to compete at the state contest. If you win the Minnesota state contest, you earned the right to compete at the National FFA Convention this fall in Indianapolis.

In addition to CDE contests at the State FFA Convention, there will be educational seminars, delegate sessions, all kinds of awards announced and a new Minnesota State Officer team will be announced. John and I will be at the state FFA Convention talking with area FFA members, and those interviews will be broadcast on KDHL all day next Tuesday. It is really rewarding to be around these great kids involved in the FFA. It is difficult to describe what the sessions are like with the formality, inspiration and parliamentary procedure during the sessions. If you would like to experience it live the Minnesota FFA will be streaming it online. Go to the Minnesota FFA website and there is a link to the convention.
