Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - While the jury is being seated for the trial of one of the three defendants in a Rochester murder case, it appears one of the defendants is putting some pressure on prosecutors.

34-year-old Kielah Parsons appeared for a pre-trial hearing this morning in Olmsted County Court in advance of her trial, which had been scheduled to start next week. That was canceled, but Parsons responded by invoking her right for a speedy trial, which means the prosecution has to be ready to present its case within 60 days. She and 21-year-old Darian Klindworth-Woods face second-degree murder charges for their alleged involvement in the shooting death of 38-year-old Brandon Arndt in October 2018.

A jury is being seated this week for the man accused of actually shooting the Rochester man. 28-year-old Malcolm Woods is charged with first and second-degree murder and is acting as his own defense attorney. The case is also unusual in that Woods is being restrained during the proceeding by an electronic ankle bracelet that can be used to deliver a shock in the event of a violent outburst. Klindworth-Woods is expected to be a key witness for the prosecution in the trial and has been granted immunity from having any of his testimony used against him during his trial.
