The Rice County Board of Commissioners learned today while the Webster Township precinct split for redistricting ten years ago is resolved this court ordered redistricting includes three precincts in Northfield Township.  One of those precincts is one two-person household.  County Property Tax and Elections Director Denise Anderson talked about the court ordered changes for redistricting during a Committee of the Whole Work Session by the County Board explaining the shift in population in Rice County is primarily in the north…

That was desired by the county due to a request by Webster for the change going into redistricting but Anderson said a new headache for the County Elections was ordered by the court…

Anderson added…

Anderson stated the people have agreed to be a mail ballot precinct like Dennison with 9 voters does.  Commissioner Jim Purfeerst inquired…

Anderson told Commissioners she has a plan to attempt to remedy the split in Northfield Township but Webster will remain split for the upcoming special election in US Congressional District One until 2023.

Anderson pointed out the largest growing rural area in Rice County is Lonsdale with a population gain in the past decade of 987 people.  Northfield gained 679 people and Faribault grew by 1,101. Morristown decreased by 29, Nerstrand dropped by 22.

The biggest growth among the townships was in Forest, gaining 97 and the largest decrease happened in Shieldsville which lost 81 people in the latest census.

Let's help if we can.  Imagine if this were us.
