Rice County 2018 Fair Queen is Vikla
A new Rice County Fair Queen was crowned Tuesday night during the pageant broadcast on KDHL and the KDHL Facebook page. Megan Vikla was crowned Queen, making this the third member of the family to be named fair royalty. Vikla's two sisters were the second attendant and first attendant during previous fairs.
The 2018 First Attendant is 17 year old Zoe Nassif of Dennison and the Second Attendant 16 year old Hannah Singh of Northfield. Vikla is 19 and will be a sophomore at St. Olaf College in Northfield this fall. She was a 2017 Tri-City United graduate. Megan is the daughter of David and Kelly Vikla of Lonsdale. At St. Olaf she is studying in math and studio art.
Nasif is the daughter of Carol and Robert Nassif and graduated last spring from Randolph High School. She will be attending the University of Wisconsin in River Falls this fall and study elementary education.
Singh is the daughter of Raghav Singh and Kristen Moorhead and will be a senior this fall at Northfield High School.
Nassif was chosen by the other contestants as Miss Congeniality.
Following the pageant Singh told KDHL when her name was announced she was, "So happy. I was surprised I won at all and am so excited to be the second attendant. It's going to be so amazing." I asked what she was looking forward to most and her reply, "Just spending more time with the other girls and just getting to participate in all these different things. It's such and honor and so cool."
Nasif said when her name was announced she became, "Very excited. I was surprised but also very happy all at the same time."
Vikla's oldest sister Heather was the Second Attendant in 2012 and Emily was the First Attendant in 2013. Emily is currently Miss Czech Slovak of Minnesota and will be competing at the National Czech Slovak event in Wilbur, Nebraska next month.
Megan told us she was speechless when her name was called and is looking forward to, "Meeting a lot of new people and spending time with these other girls."
