Rice County Fair Feature is Local Food Booths
One of the things I enjoy most about the Rice County Fair is there are a lot of local food vendors on the fairgrounds in Faribault.
The variety is good also. Fair Secretary John Dvorak told me they try not to have too many food booths in an effort to have all the vendors enjoy a profit from the event.
I stopped out Monday night while a lot of people were still getting set up to examine just how many of the booths are local.
By local I mean RIce County. If I missed any here in my picture taking I did not do so on purpose.
The Rice County Dairy Association Malt truck was not set up yet so you can add that to the local list. My favorite malt is strawberry.
You can never go wrong with the Cardinal Cafe sponsored by Bethlehem Academy School in Faribault or the 4-H Food Stand sponsored by all the various Rice County 4-H Chapters in the county.
There is a great variety of food and drink items for purchase in both stands.
The Rice County Pork Producers Association features pulled pork sandwiches, pork chop on a stick and other pork products.
To the west of the Pork Booth is I believe the oldest continuous stand to be at the RCF Kathy Heise's Popcorn and Cotton Candy.
East of the Pork Booth is St. Luke's Church stand which has varied their menu over the years. Typically they have had some delicious desserts.
Bauer's delicious home recipe Root Beer and of course Root Beer Floats are especially delicious when it's warm at the fair. What a great way to cool down.
Schroeder Concessions based in Faribault travels all over and has multiple booths at the Minnesota State Fair each year. They have a few different offerings at their hometown fair also.
To the west of the Schroeder stands is Farmer's Delights of Faribault which has a variety of treats including an awesome Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich.
Across from Farmer's is a long time vendor at the Rice County Fair Temple Concessions with their famous Cheese Curds, Fried Pickles and Corn Dogs.
To the east of Temple's stands is the Godfather's Pizza Truck with a Godfather's Restaurant in Faribault.
Lopez Concessions began in 1969 with their Mexican offerings.
A relatively new truck is the Last Chance BBQ Shack to the west of the Lopez stand.
The newest local food choice at the Rice County Fair comes from the Depot Restaurant with their Depot Rock Island Food Caboose.
The Beer Garden at the Rice County Fair is always run by a local organization. Approximately half of the food vendors in Faribault area locally based.
This is some amazing information.
