Rare Octagon Home for Sale in Minnesota
Octagon homes are hard to come by nowadays! They used to be extremely popular but now there are only a handful left around Minnesota. One of those rare octagon homes is now for sale and it's beautiful!
The Star Tribune writes that octagon homes were popular back in the 19th-century. They say that "the eight-sided design really took off in 1848 with the publication of 'The Octagon House, A Home for All,' by amateur architect Orson Squire Fowler." Orson says in his book that an octagon home allows for better airflow, it allows more light in, and it's better for heating and cooling.
This home that's for sale was built in 1887 and is located in North St. Paul. The Star Tribune says it's the only octagon home left in Ramsey County. Dave Sours and Marilee Olson bought the house 15 years ago and fixed it up. It's now a beautiful, rare home that's on the market!
It's a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom home with a 2 car garage. It's 2,886 sq. ft. and is listed at $485,000.
