Owatonna Public Utilities is cautioning their customers about a possible phone scam. Their announcement is one of the top notes from this week's Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Tuesday Talk e-newsletter. A local business celebrating an anniversary and the class announcement of the Owatonna Community Leadership Academy are also included.

The newsletter says, "Owatonna Public Utilities has been notified of a phone scam in town where businesses are receiving phone calls requiring them to pay by credit card over the phone immediately or be disconnected." Anyone who gets this call should hang up and contact OPU at 507-451-2480.

Cindy Tailoring, Alterations & Dry Cleaning held their 4th anniversary celebration in July. Owner Cindy Bathke has been in Owatonna for 34 of those years according to a news release. The business is located at 130 East Vine Street. Bathke has a degree in commercial tailoring.

The LearningRX Owatonna Brain Training Center came home with a pair of national awards their company's convention in Colorado. The Owatonna office earned the 2019 Customer Service Award and Trainer of the Year honors. LearningRX CEO Kim Hanson said, "Our Owatonna team has helped countless clients excel by training their brains to be faster and more efficient learners."

The Trainer of the Year Award was presented to Sonja Harris. She has been with the Owatonna office since it opened in May of 2017.

The chamber reminds members that Friday After Hours will be held at the Beer Garden Friday, August 9 at 5:30 pm. The hosts are Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Advantage Real Estate, Block Plumbing and Heating, Cash Wise Foods and the Steele County Free Fair.
