Owatonna High School senior Jenna Gleason is the recipient of the 24th annual Ted G. Ringhofer Scholarship, honoring the former President of the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism (OACCT). Ringhofer served nearly 30 years in that role and was on the Owatonna City Council for 24 years.

Gleason will attend Dordt University and major in nursing. She will also compete in track and field. Gleason wanted to attend a private Christian school and likes the nursing program there.

Ringhofer was a graduate of OHS where he was a wrestler, Student Council President and involved in many other activities. He died of cancer in 1997. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded in connection with North Risk Partners/TPS Insurance Agency.

In a recent Tuesday Talk e-newsletter from the OACCT, Chamber Ambassadors welcomed new chamber members Hidden Rose Boutique owned by Melissa Ward and Fresh Cafe owned by Reagan West. Both are located at 130 E. Vine St.

The Young Professionals program will hold a May Mixology Class at Owatonna Country Club where members can learn about making craft cocktails. The event is free for current. Contact the chamber for more information.

The chamber newsletter offers updates on a pair of Owatonna construction projects. Work has begun on the West Bridge Street roundabout and should conclude by the end of October. Work could start by mid-June on the North Cedar Avenue Streetscape project.
