The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) announced today the Governor is allowing youth sports to practice beginnng January 4, 2021.

KDHL spoke with Faribault High School Activities Director Keith Badger and he will be a guest on our Saturday Faribault Coaches Show at 10:00 a.m.  We are also hoping Bethlehem Academy Activities Director Ed Friesen will be able to join us to go over more specific information concerning those schools.

A lineup of many area coaches shows this Saturday will include visits with Atheltic Directors in the area.

The Kenyon-Wanamingo show will feature a visit with volleyball Co-Captain Hailey Lerfald.

In the MSHSL News Release they state "the first date of competition under the new directive (Governor's Executive Order) has not yet been determined."

The MSHSL also says, "Member schools have the option to bein in-person participation at a later date if it best aligns with their district's COVID-19 response plan."

Sports allowed to begin in-person practive January 4th include:

  • Gymnastics
  • Girls Basketball
  • Boys Basketball
  • Boys Hockey
  • Girls Hockey
  • Wrestling
  • Boys swimming and diving
  • Girls and boys nordic skiing
  • Girls and boys alpine skiing
  • Dance
  • Adapted floor hockey may begin it's training season

Faribault High School has put together a spring schedule for baseball, softball, boys and girls track and field, boys and girls golf.

The first games are scheduled for March 30, 2021 with the Falcon baseball team at Byron while the softball team hosts Byron.

The first boys tennis match is scheduled for Aprio 5, 2021 at St. James.

The first boys and girls track and field competitions will be at Ted Nelson Track with a multiple schools meet.

Falcons girls golf opens April 10, 2021 at Faribault Golf and Country Club with multiple schools scheduled to be there.

The Faribault High School boys golf team is at a multiple team meet at Meadow Greens Golf Course in Austin.
