Samuel Nilva lives in the Twin Cities and is a World War II veteran. Unfortunately, he came down with Coronavirus (COVID-19) and had to go to the Minneapolis VA Medical Center to be cared for. On this past Wednesday, Samuel not only survived Coronavirus, but he was also sent home that day, and it was his 101st birthday!

The Star Tribune writes that staff members at the VA Medical Center stood by his bedside to celebrate his birthday and sang "Happy Birthday" to him with his family who joined via video chat. Later that day, Samuel was given his discharge papers, officially saying he could go home after battling Coronavirus. Now that's a great birthday present!

Take a look at a video from the Minneapolis VA Health Care System's Facebook page where RN, Breena Eam talks about how great that day was, you'll see everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to Samuel, and see his departure from the VA Medical Center.
