Is This Really the Most Popular Food in Minnesota?
I'm not one to argue, but this one surprises me just a little bit.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good burger. In fact, I always say that if a restaurant can't prepare you a decent burger, then what else is going wrong in the kitchen? But according to BuzzFeed, the Jucy Lucy (or Juicy if you prefer) was voted tops in Minnesota by people who actually live here.
For those who aren't aware, the Jucy Lucy is a type of hamburger made with the cheese cooked inside the meat instead of on top of it. I had my first Jucy Lucy at Newts when I first moved to Rochester over 12 years ago. A girl I was dating at the time was shocked I'd never had one before so she insisted on buying me one. I've been hooked ever since.
But if someone were to ask me what food is the "most popular", and which food our state is "most known-for", then that would be two completely different answers for me because I would think we'd be most known for our Hotdishes? Specifically the Tator-Tot Hotdish. Every state has their own take on burgers, so it's odd that we'd be pegged for that but I also know (almost) everybody eats them too.
In any case, who do you think does the best Jucy/Juicy Lucy in town? Tell us below!
