The National Weather Service issued a Winter Advisory for the Central Minnesota and the Twin Cities Metro and a Winter Storm Warning for western Wisconsin communities. The slick travel conditions impacted the school day for several communities in southeast Minnesota.

State Patrol Public Information Officer Lt. Gordon Shank says troopers responded to 115 crashes statewide between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. 18 of the crashes involved injuries, including one in southeast Minnesota, where a pick-up struck an unoccupied tow truck on I-90 east about 15 miles east of the Winona exit. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Tracey Smith of Bangor, WI, was brought to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Several of the crashes occurred in the Twin Cities, including a multi-vehicle pileup that slowed traffic at the I-394/Hwy. 100 interchange west of Minneapolis. Troopers also were on the scene of multiple on I-94 through west-central Minnesota.

MnDOT snow plows were dispatched to deal with the icy roads. Crews reported light slush on roadways throughout southeast Minnesota.
