Three of the four Region 3C opening round games were completed Sunday.  The Faribault Lakers home game against the Mongtomery Mallards was moved to 8:00 p.m. Monday.

Top seed New Market dispatched the Lonsdale Aces 13-2 with Faribault High School graduate Nick Rost pitching.  Tony Vocca and Tyler Bergstrom each homered for New Market.  The Muskies will play the Faribault game winner in Vesli Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.  The winner of that game secures a trip to state.  The team that does not come out on top in the Faribault contest will be at Lonsdale in an elimination game.

#2 seed St. Patrick downed the St. Benedict Saints 9-2 thanks to a 3 ryun 4th and 4 run 8th inning.  Both teams had 7 hits and the boxscore shows the Saints with 7 errors.  Collin Denk collected the win by pitching the first 7 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 earned run.  Denk struck out 11 St. Benedict batters and did walk anyone.  He did hit a batter.  Nick Spitt threw the 8th inning and Zach Seurer the 9th.  The three combined for 14 strikeouts.

Jeremy Heitkamp suffered the loss going 3 and 2/3 innings with 4 earned runs allowed, 5 hits, 5 walks, 1 strikeout and a hit batter.  Three more pitchers saw some action.

Matt Ambroz led the Irish at the plate with two doubles, 2 RBI, Kyle Rhodus clubbed an RBI double, Dom Deluca had 2 hits, 3 RBI.  St. Patrick walked 8 times and had 3 hit batsman.

St. Benedict will host New Prague Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with team that loses ending their season.

The Prior Lake Mudcats bested New Prague 3-1 in New Prague.  All the runs scored in the game came in the 4th inning.  Luke Weber went the distance for the Mudcats allowing 7 hits, 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts, 2 walks.

Nathan Sprouls took the loss going the first 7 innings with 5 hits, 3 earned runs, 6 strikeouts, 2 walks, 1 hit batter, 2 wild pitches.  Zach Sirek threw the last two innings with a strikeout and a hit batsman.

Prior Lake RBI in the game were collected by BJ Benz, Lucas Pumper and Greg Faue.  Faue and Cole Bjorge each collected 2 hits.

Jake Deutsch had the lone RBI for the Orioles while clubbing 2 hits, Ben Buthe also tallied 2 hits.
