Faribault Boys Hockey Wins, Northfield Sweeps Owatonna

The Faribault Falcons scored a power play goal with 2:22 left in regulation Saturday in a 3-2 win at Windom.

Oliver Linneman. senior, was involved in each score with Faribault gaining two power play and a shorthanded goal in the victory.

Windom scored two goals on 11 shots in the first period with the Falcons taking 8 shots on goal.

Faribault achieved a power play goal by Tommy Kunze with an assist to Linneman with 1:45 to go in the second period.

Linneman tallied a shorthanded goal to tie the game with 9:16 left in the game before Logan Peroutka got the game winner with assists by Linneman and Kunze.

The Falcons had 12 shots in the second period and 13 shots in the third whilce the Eagles were held to 5 shots in the second and 6 shots in the third.

Shot totals were 33 for Faribault, 22 for Windom.

Faribault finished the game 2 for 6 on the power play.  Windom was 1 for 5 with the advantage.

The Falcons notched their third straight win, travel to LaCrescent Tuesday then Winona Thursday with that game on KDHL.

Northfield boys and girls hockey teams defeated Owatonna Saturday.  The boys game was 4-3 and the girls 7-3.

Northfield was 2 for 2 on the power play while Owatonna was 1 for 5.  The Huskies totaled 29 shots on goal to the Raiders 25 shots on goal.

2:57 into the game Northfield scored and even strength goal by Barret Bradley with assists by Griffin Kennelly and Michael Seward.

1:06 later Owatonna's Broderick Goodnature scored an unassisted goal.

At 8:47 Northfield's Kennelly scored a power play goal with assists to Cayden Monson and Ty Frank.

The Raiders Jake Geiger got the only goal of the second period.  The power play score was assisted by Ty Frank and Kam Kaiser.

The Huskies made things interesting with two goals in the third at 6:39 and 12:08 to tie the game.

Owen Byer got an even strength goal assisted by Jack Strom before Joseph Webster scored on a power play with assists to Andrew Mitchell and Broderick Goodnature.

Andrew Winter scored the game winner with assists by Kam Kaiser and Jake Geiger.

Northfield 10-1-2, is at Rochester Mayo Thursday,  The 11-3-1 Owatonna Huskies host Mankato West Thursday.

The Northfield girls broke open a close game by scoring 5 third period goals in their 7-3 win at Owatonna.  The boys game was played in Northfield.

Aya Puppe of Northfield scored the only goal of the first period :34 into the game unassisted.

7:27 of second Mia Miller extended the lead with assists to Emerson Garlie and Isabelle Stephes.

Owatonna answered with a power play goal by Samantha Bogen with :49 seconds left in the period.  Assist to Alia Kubicek.

The Raiders scored the first three goals of the third period to pull away.  2:17 into the final period Grace McCoshen scored with assists by Garlie and Puppe.

3:51 Garlie had unassisted even strength goal.  7:01 Puppe scored a power play goal with assist to Olivia Rasmussen.

7:18 the Huskies Genevieve Froman was assisted by Grace Mitchell.

9:06 Puppe got a power play goal for Northfield with assists by Lillian Jindra and Isabelle Paulson.

14:15 Puppe achieved another power play goal unassisted.

With 2:08 left in game Owatonna's Mitchell scored with an assist by Alia Kubicek.

The Raiders were 3 for 6 on the power play, Huskies 1 for 4.

Northfield is 18-0 hosts Rochester Mayo Tuesday.  Owatonna is at Mankato West Thursday.
