The Faribault Bethlehem Academy and Faribault High School Fastpitch Softball teams both won in Alexander Park Thursday.

The Cardinals flew by Maple River 9-3 while the Falcons blanked Red Wing 7-0.

BA has a 3-0 record.  Faribault High School is now 1-2.

The Eagles scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning against Bethlehem Academy thanks to two hits and a pair of errors.  The Cardinals responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Anna Cohen started the inning with a walk.  That was followed by an error.  Cleanup hitter Kate Trump cracked an RBI double.  Pitcher Morgan Wilson then hit a two run single.  Designated player Sarah Tobin hit an RBI single.  The Cardinals had the lead for good.

BA added a run in the third inning.  Trump started the inning with a walk. Wilson followed with another walk.  Josie Rose hit a dribbler in front of the plate that was fielded cleanly but the throw to first base resulted in an error.  A relay home was not in time to get Trump.

Bethlehem Academy sent nine people to the plate in a 4 run, 2 hit fourth inning.

Lindsay Hanson opened the inning with a walk out of the #9 spot in the order.  Top hitter Anna Cohen singled, Reagan Kangas was walked.  Anna Tobin was safe on an error which loaded the bases.  Wilson walked resulting in another run scoring ahead of a 2-RBI Sarah Tobin single

Wilson was very efficient throwing 57 pitches through the first 5 innings, 40 strikes.

The junior finished her 7 innings of work with 84 pitches total, 61 strikes.  Wilson struck out 5, walked 1 and allowed 6 hits.

Maple River used two sophomore pitchers.  Starting the game was Kelsey Jaeger.  She went the first four innings, throwing 102 pitches, 53 strikes.  The right-hander fanned 4 Cardinals batters, walked 8 while giving up 5 hits.

Mikayla Johnson pitched the fifth and sixth innings with 2 hits allowed, 1 strikeout, no walks and a hit batter, no runs scored.

Johnson threw 40 pitches, 21 strikes.

BA has Janesville-Waldorf- Pemberton coming to Alexander North Park Friday, April 14, 2023 at 4:30 p.m.

Rylee Sietsema threw a four-hit shutout against Red Wing in Faribault's first win of the season.

The Falcons scored 3 runs in the third inning and added 4 more in the 5th, taking advantage of 5 Wingers errors while collecting 5 hits in the Big Nine game.

Reagan Dregenbach, Sietsema, juniors, had hits in the game along with Amira Williams, 8th, Jamie Adamek, sophomore and Lily Jindra, freshman.

Olivia Smith, junior, Williams, Emma Minnick, junior each had one RBI in the Falcons victory.

Sietsema struck out 9, walked 1 for the impressive win.

The Falcons travel to Kasson-Mantorville Friday for a non-conference game against a section opponent.
