Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn says two Faribault people were involved in a vehicle versus ATV accident this afternoon near Shieldsville that resulted in one injury.

The accident occurred in the 17000 Block of Hunt Lake Trail.

Sheriff Dunn says, "Upon arrival deputies learned an ATV being operated by a juvenile male cam out of the west ditch traveling eastbound and collided with a northbound passenger car.  The driver of the ATV was ejected.  He was treated at the scene by deputies and other emergency personnel and transported by ambulance to Allina Hospital in Faribault.  He was later airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital for further treatment and evaluation for his injuries.  He had been wearing a helmet prior to the crash but it was dislodged as a result of the crash."

He was identified as Rocco T. Strouth, 14, of Faribault.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and identified as Karen A. Johnson, 79, of Faribault.

Johnson was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured.

The call came in at 12:45 p.m.
