The Miesville Mudhens had a 5-0 lead through 4 innings against Chaska Friday night before the game was called due to the weather.  The game was played at Chaska Athletic Park with recognition of the 1971 Class B State Amateur Baseball Champions from Chaska.

The Waconia and Hamburg games were also called and are being played Sunday night at their locations.  Young America and St. Clair had just begun in Waconia and Maple Lake vs Milroy was scheduled in Hamburg.

The Minnesota Baseball Association State Amateur Baseball Tournament record for fans on the final day was experienced in 1953 in New Ulm when 7,728 fans showed up.

New Ulm or Sleepy Eye were not in the title games that year.

Class AA Austin defeated Litchfield 8-1, Class A results Delavan 5 Little Falls 3, Class B Rollingstone 7 Holdingford 1.

That year a tournament record that has never been broken happened when all the teams combined to club 39 triples.  There must have been a number of speedy guys participating that year.

Remember television was not as prevalent in society in 1953.  I don't know if that number will be seen again.

The largest total attendance was in 1950 in St. Cloud when 35,318 people witnessed Fergus Falls defeat Austin 3-0 for the Class AA title.

LeCenter edged Winsted 4-3 in Class A and Lester Prarie downed Duluth Teve's 2-0.

Springfield, Milroy and Shakopee were the sites for the 2020 tournament held during the COVID pandemic.  14,349 was the total attendance figure according to MBA records.

Chanhassen is hoping to obtain their 4th consecutive Class B title this year.  Albert Lea has the record for most consecutive championships with 5 from 1944 through 1948, the year KDHL hit the airwaves.

Claremont has been to state one time and set a tournament record they didn't want to be involved in.  They were involved in the first State Tournament game called  by the 10-run rule.

In 1930 Claremont lost to LeSueur 15-0.

The MBA records don't indicate the nickname for Claremont (for example: Eagles, Prarie Chickens, Parrots).  If anybody out there knows please let us know.

The high school team was called the Parrots when I first moved to Faribault, Mn. in 1987.  In 1991 West Concord, Claremont and Dodge Center formed the Triton school district.

Speaking of Dodge County.  Hayfield made a trip to the State Amateur Baseball Tournament in 2011.  West Concord had teams there in 1940 and 1941.  Kasson made trips in 1966, 2007 and 2010.  Dodge County participated in 2017.  Dodge Center sent teams in 1942, 1999, 2003 and 2004.
