The Faribault Flames have to wait a few more days to play the Federal League 35 and older Class A State Championship game.

Faribault was hoping to ride the momentum of their 6-5 win over New Market on Saturday night into Sunday's scheduled contest, but the skies opened up.

The game against St. Patrick will be at Bell Field in Faribault at 7PM Thursday night.

The skies opened in the sixth inning of the third-place game between Lakeville and Coon Rapids. The Lobos of Lakeville took third with a 9-2 victory over the Diamonds, taking advantage of seven errors.

In the fifth-place game, St. Michael defeated St. Paul in a 3-2 thriller, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Minnesota high school football begins Saturday, and players from Faribault and St. Patrick agreed a game during the week would work best.

The Irish and Flames split during the regular season. St. Patrick will be the home team even though the game is being played in Faribault.

Let's pack Bell Thursday night. This is a state championship game.
