It was fun to see this restored 1936 John Deere Model B outside the 4-H Building at the Goodhue County Fair. It caught my attention as I was walking by so I had to get a closer look. There was a scrapbook on display with pictures of the tractor being restored. As I was looking through the pictures I realized it was a very special John Deere Model B.

Goodhue County 4-H member Lanny Reese bought the tractor from his grandpa, Don Reese. I suspect Don purchased the tractor new in 1936 and it has been in the Reese family since then. I am always amazed at the patience and skill needed to restore an old tractor like this. It is more than sandblasting, priming and painting. Many times you have to fix dents and find parts to get them running. It was great, too, that Don could see the tractor restored and pass ownership to his grandson. I am willing to bet that tractor is not for sale at any price!
