Update: Rice & Goodhue Counties Now In Winter Storm Warning
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for far southern Minnesota. The forecast calls for 7-11 inches of snow, with the highest amounts along the I-90 corridor. Snow will begin later this afternoon and will be the heaviest tonight, when snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour are possible. Snowfall rates will fall off Wednesday afternoon but gusty winds will cause blowing and drifting.
The cities of Faribault Kenyon-Wanamingo, Goodhue, Northfield, Owatonna, Austin, Mankato,Red Wing and Waseca, Blue Earth, Dodge Center and Albert Lea are some of the cities included in the warning area.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for some counties to the north of the warning area. St. Peter, Le Sueur and are some of the cities included in that, with 4-6 inches of snow possible in this area by Wednesday afternoon and some blowing and drifting will be possible.
