On the strength of 3 power play goals the Winona Winhawks defeated the Falcons 5-4 Saturday night at Faribault Ice Arena.

Winona came into the game with the best power play percentage in the Big Nine Conference.  They had 8 opportunities while Faribault scored one power play goal in two chances.  The Winhawks power play is 32.8%.

The Falcons took the lead 4:34 into the game on a Jax Bokman goal (3) assisted by Logan Peroutka (4) and Brayden Larson (11).

Less than a minute later, 5:40 Ayden Ruesgen answered with a power play goal.  Assists credited to Max Dalenberg and Travis Timm.

The Winhawks went on the power play following a elbowing call against the Falcons Brody Redding.  It took Winona 35 seconds to score after the whistled penalty.

Winona took the lead at 10:22 when Timm buried the puck following a pass from Quinn Larsen on another power play following a bench minor penalty.  The Winhawks scored :35 into the power play.

Faribault tied the game at 15:06 when Redding (7) scored a power play goal with assists to Bokman (5) and Parker Morrow (3).  The power play came following a boarding major against Teis Larsen.  The Falcons scored 1:54 into the 5 minute major.  Faribault's power play is 17.4%.

Despite starting the second period with a man advantage Faribault did not score in the second period.  Winona scored 1:19 into the period seven seconds after Larsen came out of the penalty box.  The assist went to Sam Buerck.

Larsen is second in the Big Nine in assists and fourth in total points.

They also scored at 3:30 on a power play goal by Aiden Kronebusch, assists to Aven Prodzinski and Caleb Ellenberg.

The score was Winona 4, Faribault 2 going into the third period.  The Winhawks game winner was an unassisted even strength goal by Prodzinski at 14:55.

Faribault scored twice in the final half minute to make things interesting.

With 27 seconds left in regulation Oliver Linnemann (12) scored thanks to an assist

from Peroutka (5).

Redding (8) got his second goal with 8 seconds left in the game with assists by Bokman (6) and Linnemann (14).

The Falcons outshot Winona 39 to 27.

The loss dropped Faribault to 8-8 in Big Nine play and 9-13 overall.  Winona is now 5-9 in the league, 9-13-1 overall.

The Falcons host St. Paul Academy (6-16-1) Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
