It has been the summer of road construction in Owatonna. And it won't be ending anytime soon. Recently the southbound I-35 exit and entrance ramps at Bridge Street in Owatonna closed. When will they reopen?

In a weekly update from the City of Owatonna Director of Public Works and Project Manager ISG, the ramps are due to reopen later this week, "Construction on Phase 1B began [last] week on July 14 with removals and subgrade preparation which required the closure of the southbound I-35 ramps at W. Bridge Street. Due to the significant traffic impacts, the work in this area is required to be expedited and completed within 10 calendar days and is planned to be re-opened on July 24."

Concrete paving begins on the West Bridge Street Reconstruction project this week, "The new concrete typically takes between seven and 14 days before it can be driven on so please use extra caution while paving is occurring and do not enter the area until the road is open to traffic," the update advises.

The project should be complete by the end of October and will include a new roundabout at West Bridge Street and 24th Avenue.

A big roundabout project is also about to begin at the intersection of County Road 45 and 26th Street. Road closure signs indicate work will begin July 29. The North Cedar Streetscape project in downtown Owatonna continues as well.
